Order Fulfillment Systems
HK Systems follows a proven methodology to develop order fulfillment strategies and their supporting systems. HK Systems provides a full line of technologies to automate order
fulfillment requirements. These technologies are divided between Operator Assisted Fulfillment Technologies and Automated Fulfillment Technologies.
Automated Fulfillment Technologies:
Robotic Picking & Palletizing
Using pedestal or gantry-style robots these systems can handle load weights from 0 to 4,000 lbs. by carton, tote, case, layer or entire pallet. Picking performance ranges from 120-600 lines per hour.

case-storage solution with high
throughput. With 7 load
extractors operating
independently, the
Case-A-Matic can achieve
throughput rates of up to 350 cases
per hour per machine.
Operator Assisted Fulfillment Technologies:
Light Directed Picking System
Provides an operator with hands-free visually directed picking assignments. This technology includes Windows-based picking, zone management and quality control software.
Historically, Light-Directed Picking applications provide a 60% productivity gain over paper ticket-directed pick-to-belt applications.
Voice Directed Picking System
Provides an operator with hands-free audibly directed picking assignments. This technology includes Windows-based picking, zone management and quality control software.
Historically, Light-Directed Picking applications provide a 35% productivity gain over paper ticket-directed pick-to-pallet applications.
Pick Modules/Tunnels
Pick-to-Belt
The Pick-to-Belt order fulfillment strategy is primarily used to automate the transport of order requirements from product storage locations to the primary shipping location.
HK Systems is experienced in integrating the picking, transportation and replenishment technologies for these operations.
Pick-to-Pallet
The Pick-to-Pallet order fulfillment strategy is predominantly used to manually palletize order requirements at the individual product storage locations. HK Systems is skilled
at integrating the picking and replenishment technologies for these applications.
Pallet Replenishment
HK Systems has used Storage and Retrieval Machine (SRM) technology to enable fully automated replenishment of pick locations.
Rotating Fork Storage/Retrieval Machine
The HK3000/RF SRM provides a favorable automated pallet replenishment technology for 60' or lower ceiling height applications. The HK3000/RF utilizes selective racking while maintaining
an 8" bottom tier elevation. This results in a very cost effective automated pallet replenishment solution.
Triple-Deep Storage/Retrieval Machine
The HK4000 SRM has the ability to store and retrieve up to 4,000 lbs. pallets in a single to “Triple-Deep” configuration. This deep storage technology allows pick tunnels to be created in the rack structure
without losing vertical storage density.
End-of-Aisle & Remote Order Fulfillment
HK Systems uses a variety of technologies to enable End-of-Aisle & Remote Order Fulfillment.
Carousel
HK Systems markets a full line of horizontal carousel picking systems complete with standard inventory and picking software applications.
Miniload
The HK750 Miniload SRM provides an end-of-aisle picking technology with the maximum storage density. The drawer type storage utilizes a facility’s vertical storage to its optimal capability.
Tote Stacker
The HK220 Tote/case handling SRM achieves industry-leading throughput capacity for automated case/tote picking.
