Community Involvement

HK Systems supports and promotes its employees to volunteer in the improvement of our communities and is proud to be invloved in the following programs.


Big Brothers/Big Sisters

HK Systems employees are active in a number of initiatives including mentoring programs, Sports Buddies Program, Board of Directors and the annual Bowl for Kid’s Sake fundraiser.

South Milwaukee High School Mentor Program

HK Systems employees strive to cultivate meaningful mentoring relationships with South Milwaukee High School students. The Program offers discussion groups and activities for students to promote personal and educational enrichment and development of important life skills. The HK Systems/ South Milwaukee High School Mentor Program has been in place for 16 years.

Junior Achievement for a Day Program

HK Systems, Inc. participates in the annual Junior Achievement Day – a unique, one day partnership between local schools and businesses. HK employees volunteer and are paired with classroom teachers to present Junior Achievement coursework and engage in activities for multiple grade levels. 2009 marks the fourth year of HK Systems employees working with students at Banting Elementary School, located in Milwaukee, WI.

Community Blood Drive

To help maintain an ample blood supply in our community, HK Systems has scheduled a blood drive with the BloodCenter of Wisconsin for Feb. 4, 2009. The BloodCenter of Wisconsin supplies 100% of the blood to every community hospital in our area saving lives right here in our community!

FIRST Robotics Team

HK is a proud sponsor of the 2009 For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics Team. Comprised of Waukesha, Wisconsin high school students, the Team will work together to engineer the design and development of a robot to solve an assigned challenge within a six-week window.

Committed to raising the awareness of and creating interest in the world of engineering, HK Systems is proud to provide financial assistance and educational resources for team members. Celebrating its second year of sponsorship, HK hopes to inspire students to pursue a career and enhance the contributions of the engineering community.

American Diabetes Association

Employees in the Salt Lake City, Utah office participated in the 2008 TourdeCure benefitting the American Diabetes Association. The participants enjoyed a ride along a serpentine path visiting historical sites in Utah where our nation’s first transcontinental railroad began.

Utah Food Bank

Salt Lake City employees sponsored a two day book fair benefitting a local food bank and restocking their shelves.

Jeans to Work Day

Salt Lake City employees donated cash to the Utah Food Bank to win the opportunity to wear jeans to work in December.

HK Foundation

The HK Foundation was founded in 1994 as a vehicle for HK employees to donate to local charities of their choice. Each year, employees nominate and vote for the non-profit organizations the Foundation will support. 2009 Charities as follows:

United Way

HK Systems employees in Wisconsin support the annual United Way campaign of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County. Employee contributions help support local charities and United Way’s new mission of helping to “Break the Cycle of Poverty” in each community.

Salt Lake City employees sponsored a two day book fair benefitting a local food bank and restocking their shelves.

Jeans to Work Day

For The Hunger Task Force – New Berlin, WI employees donated $10.00 to wear jeans to work for a week in December. The Hunger Task Force received $1600 in addition to food donations prior to the 2008 December holidays.
