Aerospace
The Aerospace industry presents its own unique material handling challenges.
Hk Systems has installed AGV Systems which have vastly improved storage capacity in a warehousing environment, without interrupting day to day operations.
We also have installed synchronized AGVs working in tandem to transport airplane body parts! No challenge is too big or too small.
Automotive
The automotive industry utilizes AGVs in a number of applications. Many assembly plants now install AGVs as the build deck for their new model cars and trucks. Other sites use AGVs to deliver parts and kits to the assembly line, ensuring that the stations never stop the process.
Clean Room
The term "Clean Room" is used to describe a manufacturing or operating environment that requires a high level of cleanliness, maintained by special means. Microchip manufacturing is a common application that requires this type of environment.
AGVs that are used in a Clean Room environment are required to have motors and other "operational" parts enclosed, keeping the environment free of oil, dirt and other contaminants.
Food & Beverage

Tow, or "tugger" type Automatic Guided Vehicles connected to lines of carts maneuver easily and safely throughout the Mail Processing Facility, thus reducing the manual pulling and pushing of rolling containers or pallets.
Manufacturing
Moving products to or from work cells in a timely manner is an optimal use for an AGV. A shuttle or fork style vehicle can deliver the load to a static interface point, saving the customer the cost of powering stands in a work cell.
Newsprint/Roll Handling
Awkward rolls of paper, plastics or textiles are easily and safely handled by AGVs . Handling these rolls by the core, “eye to the sky” or on the bilge will drastically reduce the opportunity for product damage.
The newspaper industry is only beginning to realize the benefits of automation. Beyond installing new AGV Systems, HK has upgraded dozens of existing vehicles at newpapers, in the process replacing proprietary control systems with PC-based applications running in a Windows® environment.
The addition of PC-based controls allows data to flow back and forth from the presses to other management and accounting systems.
A primary benefit to our technology is the ability to achieve previously unreachable levels of success in the Roll Loading process. One of our clients is currently enjoying a greater than 95% success rate in Automated Roll Loading, up from 30% prior to implementation of our system.
Pharmaceutical
Transportation of raw materials as well as finished product is typical in this industry. Controlled transportation and product identification, as well as safe movement throughout the facility, are key to AGV installations.
Plastics
The Plastics Industry typically uses Automatic Guided Vehicles for material transport within their manufacturing facilities.
The AGVs transport product from the manufacturing area to storage or to an outbound staging area for shipping.
AGVs are also employed to maintain order and safety, operating flawlessly in populated or cramped areas. Bumps, crashes, and damage normally associated with transport of materials are virtually eliminated by utilizing Automated Guided Vehicles.
Warehousing

Fork type vehicles as well as very narrow aisle [VNA] vehicles are commonly used. The use of very narrow aisle AGVs can dramatically increase storage capacity, using existing racking much of the time. As with any application, AGVs can be specially equipped for nontraditional load sizes.
